Depending on what tweaks you have installed, it is possible that the device will actually boot, but packages that have invalid signatures, such as cydia, will not work. Also if you have installed things like SBSettings, it will not boot at all as these hook deep into the os but will not function without the Jailbreak, hindering the device from even starting up all the way.
