Why do people hate xd
It was absolutely stupid accurate, as accurate as any of s. It was dead nuts reliable, never had any issues with any ammo. There were three things about it that didn't appeal to me. First it is a heavy pistol with all 14 rounds on board, it weighs as much as a As an LE officer working 12 hours days, it got quite weighty sometimes.
The second was the grip safety, at least for me. I have medium to smallish hands and during some clearance drills, I would occasionally miss the perfect grip and thus couldn't get the slide to retract. Anything can fail, IE jam, and you need to be able to clear it easily, with out any hiccups. The third thing was the trigger reset, it was longer than any other pistol I was training with or owned.
I know there are aftermarket trigger bars that reduce the reset etc etc, but for a duty weapon, I try and keep the fire controls stock. All of the attributes carry over to the XD9 as well, save for it is slightly lighter than the 45, it is still heavy for a 9mm poly gun. For range use, I think it is a fine weapon, or for anyone who doesn't have the personal issues I had with mine.
FWIW, there are still 4 officers at my police department that are carrying the XD45 and have not had the same speed bumps that I had. But they are all larger guys than me, so I am not surprised. One of them is even carrying the XD45 Tactical version. I like the XD as a whole platform, and the reasons I no longer have them are my own personal reasons, and by no means is meant to imply the XD or XDm for that matter is a terrible platform.
I do not own an XD. However my best friend owns an XD 40, which I've shot several times. IMHO I would not carry an XD for serious use because you cannot do slide manipulations without squeezing the grip safety. If injured that becomes important for clearing jams single-handed. Secondly, in some government tests, XD's particularly the. That brings up reliability questions, which, for me, is the 1 factor of picking my defensive pistol.
I'll stick with my HKs. Originally Posted by ADKilla. I don't hate them, per se , it's just that there are sidearms out there without the XD's idiosyncrasies that I prefer. Also, I concur with the point s enumerated by ADKilla above. I purchased an XDm9 for a time, and came to the same conclusion folks here did long before-the XD series has no business sitting in a defensive holster.
I sold mine after reading an after action report about a citizen who was outside his office smoking when a thug walked up, pointed a. The citizen drew his and traded two rounds with the bad guy before his gun stopped working. Initially the armed citizen thought it was an ordinary malfunction , took cover, then tried to work it and realized his thumb was shot off and he couldn't engage the s grip safety.
I can think of no show stoppers with the XD I guess that depends on the criteria at hand, but IAW Rule 1, owning and training with an XD puts you way ahead of a lot of folks.
I have never seen a bad guy back down from a lay-away receipt. I have a couple of XDs, I have carried or been issued M9s, Glocks, Sigs, HKs and all manor of s -- I have had nearly every one of them go down hard due to mechanical failure at some point, they is what they is. There is no panacea, no perfect sidearm I have met far too many people that compromise their personal comfort and ability, only to carry what others tell them they need to carry and oddly, many of those advisors don't carry what they preach.

I have two xdms and have never had an issue with either. While I have never ran them like my competition guns, they have been run hard at the range. My question is why so much hate for the platform from some guntubers?
Is there an issue that I have never heard about with the platform? All of them have run flawlessly. The only negative comments that I typically see involve Glock owners who think the XD is some sort of Glock clone, despite the guns having obviously different features.
I have no idea where the meme started, but it makes some younger shooters view the XD as a typical "Fudd Gun". I also have the. It's never ran anything less than perfect. Great handgun from Springfield. I've owned so many XDs it ain't even funny. Got NO hate coming from me.
They are an outstanding gun and platform. Love, love, love all my XD children. Even sexy looking in my opinion especially compared to a Glock. Glocks are fine firearms or there wouldnt be so many of them. I have never had any interest in owning one due mainly to the fact I had seen so many people have limp wrist stove pipe issues at the range.
I never had that problem shooting any of my friends Glocks or range rentals but it did keep me from ever wanting one. Have had no problems with my XD-Ms.
