Where is rattlesnake ridge
I almost missed the ledge. And get ready to have your breath taken away. I also explored the lake bed as it dries up in winter, leaving the giant tree stumps exposed. Nice day, few people, and there's maintenance on the trail right now. WTA and another contractor. Arrived early and had the viewpoint to myself. Not a fan of rattlesnake but it's close, snow-free, and a good workout. Fairly easy Trail Run. Would recommend. Assholes who hike with Bluetooth speakers should be thrown off the ledge once they arrive!
Caught the sunrise this morning. Beautiful colors, and it was clear! Well kept trail, not many people at all during the week. I was the only one up there for awhile. Pretty easy hike, only took about minutes I'd say, and I'm not super fast. Not crowded on a Wednesday. Great trail with a little mud but overall In good shape. The trail was in good condition, the weather mild, and the view from the upper ledge clear.
With no other people on the way up, and few on the way down, a perfect hike. Late review but hiked back in September on a Thursday afternoon. Wow, beautiful view but so crowded, it was not worth it for me. Trail was in good condition otherwise though. The trail was amazing! Very few people on the trail, maybe coz it was Halloween.
I hiked to the middle ledge and the views were spectacular. Def worth the hike. Great hike. Beautiful view at the top and worth the steep climb. Very crowded. I guess a sunny weekend after lots of rain would make it ideal to hike. If I was a resident here, I would try weekdays in hopes of less crowd.
Extremely busy, passing hundreds of people, many with bluetooth speakers. Easy trail. Best when it's rainy or snowy. I hike experience. Fairly dry, a tiny bit wet in a couple spots where there was run off but otherwise great hike.
Not too busy. I am a novice hiker who lives a sedentary lifestyle. The uphill climb will greatly test your cardio, especially if you're out of shape like me. I can't stress that enough. And the downhill climb will greatly test your knees: if you have knee issues, skip this hike.
There is a bathroom not far from the start of the trailhead. I looked at all three of the viewpoints up top: skip the second and third views unless you just really want to keep hiking. The first view is stunning. Enjoyed myself a lot, but I fear what my knees will feel like tomorrow. Well marked and maintained trail. I guess the lesson is, go early. My sister visited from Cali and she was so amazed by the views. Get there at 8am or before to beat the crowds.
Beautiful and well maintained! Loved it. Well-maintained, heavily-trafficked trail. Plenty of parking. No trail map necessary. Steady but moderate elevation gain. Good on the way up and not too treacherous on the knees coming down. Though it is a through-the-woods hike with the expansive view at the end, the bottom two thirds is wooded by tall, skinny pines which afford more of a hint of a view than other similar hikes with denser foliage Mt.
Si comes to mind. Gives it an airier feel. The degrees panoramic views from the ledge, facing south around to northwest, are well worth the work. It may be crowded but there's plenty of room for group photos, mid-hike snacks, etc. Collected 3 lbs, 2 oz of trash along the trail. Most of that weight was a wet sweater; a few dog poo bags. Not so easy, not so difficult.
There is good elevation though. In the end, the views are crazy and the feeling is amazing! Luckily it was a sunny day. Enjoyed chilling on the edge of the ledge. Definitely a must do. It was a great hike all uphill on the way up and all downhill on the way back. The views were lovely and worth it. Lots of people on the trail since the weather was nice today. Great views at the top! And getting to swim in the lake at the bottom is a refreshing reward after a good workout! Bring flashlights and bike lights if you intend to travel into the tunnel.
