We nonchalantly stroll through the tangled lanes of Kohima, the capital of a beautiful and troubled State of Nagaland which is nearly dead quiet as the people still recover from their New Year hangover.

As natural and obvious it sounds, we're lost! We can't find the routes to markets and end up asking a middle aged lady with a baby across her bosom at the end of the street who stares at us in curiousity as we approach her. What unfolds in the next 40 seconds or so is flabbergasting and devastating of which me and my fellow travellers are still coping from.

I won't assure you the exact line of dialogue from our my side, but the sentences by her still reverberate, crystal clear and I'll bet my life on that. Lady : "Aaj toh sab bandh hai, paanch tareek ke baad hi aapko kuch mil sakta hai. Theek hai, aunty. Okay, thank you! I repeated "Mumbai se, Maharashtra se" "Acha, toh aap India se aaye ho! All of us stared at her in horror taking some time to realise what had hit us!

Scene cut! It has been over two years now and although I understand this is not the story of the whole state and it is unfair to generalize this incident but I do understand that this feeling and nonchalant attitude and hostility, naturally or deliberately lies among a large proportion of not just Nagaland but many of the states of the North-East Indian state.

By this I don't mean identity crises or discrimination and alienation of this part of the country is the only challenge North-East faces or it is the start and the end of all problems in the region, what I mean is that it is the soul of the whole gamut and an umbrella that has held together other issues tight with it since India became independent.

And whom do we have to blame for the situation we have got ourselves into? Strangers No More is a comprehensive answer to all these questions to some extent if not all. In this book, Hazarika has picked up from where he left it in in his much lauded book 'Strangers Of The Mist'. This book largely speaks about how far North-East India has come in the last 25 years exploring all states and all issues that grapple them since eternity.

Hazarika has brilliantly nailed down important changes and overcoming dynamics with deep research and well travelled accounts in the region combining with his work in Delhi with successive Governments.

Strangers No More is the go to book to understand the contemporary situation of the long troubled states of NorthEast India. His obsession and irritation about this topic is visible all throughout the book with his no holds barred approach towards the draconian act peppered with stories about Irom Sharmila and incidents of naked Meitei Women protecting against the Indian Army with banners of "Indian Army, Rape Us!

Sanjoy Hazarika was in a minority. How were we to know that he would turn everyone to his side? Hazarika has taken apt and surprising potshots at Lal Denga and how the state has to deal with violence and plunder because of one man's lust for power. He has extensively talked about the illegal immigration issue and the categorization 'Bangladeshi' and the much debated dynamics of this issue. The only thing that I felt was not convenient and many would find is that the topics discussed are not in any type of order or timeline as the author picks up random issues unrelated to the previous one which I feel must get overshadowed and would not be a major issue when you have such a masterful compilation of wisdom lined up for you in the guantlet.

It's good that Israel has a school that caters to people from all over the world, but what do these students think of the whole Israel-Palestine thing? If they're moving to Israel, they must have an opinion about it. Otherwise it's a good documentary. Details Edit. Release date February 27, Israel. United States Israel.
